Saying Grace is an interesting story about a private school head, Rue, and the people around her, but important characters and plot strands are abruptly dropped and never developed.

Any one of the storylines (Rue's daughter, the school/teacher/board turmoil, Rue's marriage, child abuse) would have made a better book, but all of them together /5.

I was looking for a book of prayers for Saying Grace book family to say grace before each meal and this has exceeded expectations. It is full of wonderful prayers/poems/sayings from across the world, across religions, that in some way, give thanks. Great for young and old alike.

A perfect grace book/5(34). 'Saying Grace' is a rather poorly constructed novel, which constantly shifts in terms of tone and subject.

It begins as a 'warmhearted' school story (in the manner of the blander novels of Anne Tyler). Rue, the heroine, is the headmistress of a small private school, and for the first pages or so the story is a gentle and rather boring 3/5(17).
